The Bulls Ice Hockey Club was established in 2022. The team is an affiliate of the Avantes Ice Sports Club In Athens, Greece. Our mission is to introduce the world's fastest team sport to both young and old throughout the Athens area. In September of 2021, Coach Andreas Dragatsis began this mission with 4 skaters. Now we have a total of 25 skaters ranging from 6 years old to 40+.
Over the last two seasons, our team trained and played at the Athens Heart Ice Arena in Moschato-Tavros, Greece. Unfortunately, circumstances that are out of our team's control led us to temporarily move our operations to the Ice N' Skate rink in Aigaleo, Greece. We now wait with anticipation for the opening of our new Ice Arena. Please stay tuned.
Andreas Dragatsis is a former member of the Greek National Ice Hockey Team and the Avantes Hockey Club which participated in the Greek National League. Andrea's love for the game is unmatched only by his love for his players. His dedication to all members of our team make him one of the most vital members of the Bulls, both on and off the ice.
Our parents are some of the most dedicated in the sport! Not only do they give their time off the ice coordinating team gatherings, getting equipment, dressing the younger players and designing our uniforms, but some also put themselves at risk on the ice! Three such examples are Selios, Dimitris and Eva who despite their more than questionable skating abilities, lace them up and block shots every week! Go Team Parents!
Our jersey, name and logo were designed just like everything else, with a team effort. The logo and name "Bulls" was inspired by Moschato-Tavros which is the Municipality where our rink is located. If you would like to purchase a jersey please contact us below. The cost is 70 Euros. All jersey proceeds go towards purchasing equipment and planning events for our teams.
Every season, coaches and parents organize on ice events for our athletes in order to keep that competitive edge. A small sample of those events are available in the photos below. In January 2022, our team held an intrasquad 3-on-3 tournament. With the help of Stelios, the matches were live streamed on the web. All matches can be viewed via the below link.
In April 2023, we said goodbye to a landmark of Ice Sports in Greece, The Athens Heart Ice Arena. In honor of that event, our team played friendly matches in two divisions, <12 years old and >12 years old on April 9, 2023. The result was two very competitive matches where all our athletes demonstrated the skills they mastered over the last two seasons. Both matches as well as the awards ceremony that followed can be viewed via the below link.
All ice hockey players in Greece must be registered with a local team. Registrations are done through the Greek Winter Sports Organization (EOXA). For more information, please visit the below link.
Ice hockey in Greece dates back to the 1970s and 1980s when league matches were played at the Peace and Friendship Stadium. Greece also had a national team which competed in the division III world championships. In 2010, in South Africa, the Greek national team had their best result, finishing in second place!
